These classic folding pocket knives are based
on a knife design from the 18th century. The design is so functional
that it has remained very popular to this day among the shepherds
and cowboys of the Hungarian Great Plains.
 The
Polyak Classic folding knife is an extremely rugged, handmade knife
designed for a lifetime of heavy use. Unlike most knife makers,
all the parts, including the individually ground blade, the hand
filed spring, the solid brass liners and even the handle covers,
carefully cut from whole stag antlers or from seasoned walnut logs,
are made by Master Polyak himself. It takes over 140 operations
to create one of these ruggedly handsome knives.
We offer the Classic with three different handle
treatments; two in stag antler and one in walnut. Please see the
individual photos and descriptions for full details. All the knives
come with a holster made of extra-thick American belting leather
featuring an oversized belt loop and a quick-release magnetic latch
.
Make no mistake: The Classic was designed for
serious use by men whose very life depends on it. They weigh in
at a hefty 5-3/4 to 6-1/2 ounces, depending on the handle and measure
9 inches when open. Please note that the heavy duty spring requires
5 to 7 pounds (27 Newtons) of force to open this folder!
